A few helpful things to know
Preparing to march with "Pomp and Circumstance" requires the traditional cap and gown. Here are some guidelines for the graduate on how to wear your cap and gown:
· The cap is worn flat on the head.
· The gown should fall midway between the knee and ankle.
· Men should remove their caps during the National Anthem.
· Tassels are usually worn on the right side and shifted to the left after graduates receive their diplomas.
- Try on the gown once you get it home and report any problems to the principal's office immediately.
- It's always a good idea to hang the gown once you get it home to let any wrinkles out.
- DO NOT alter or decorate your cap or gown as it only distracts from honoring all students in an equal manner. No caps or gowns are available on the day of the ceremony for anyone deviating from these standards.
- "Dress for Success" - Shirts, slacks, and dress shoes for male graduates and dresses, blouses, and skirts/slacks, and dress shoes for the female graduates will be the standard.
